Community Photos
We are gathering photographs of Sandy Creek — what happened, what we have rebuilt, and the people who showed up. If you have pictures, we would like to include them.
How to send photos
Email them to connect@sandycreekalliance.org
Send them however is easiest — attached, in a shared album, or a few at a time. If the files are large, send a link instead.
What to tell us
A photo is more useful to the community when we know a little about it:
- Where it was taken — a road, a property, a part of the creek.
- Roughly when — the date if you have it, or just "the week after."
- Who took it — so we can credit you, or not, as you prefer.
- Anyone recognizable in it — see below.
What we ask about consent
These photographs are of our neighbors, our homes, and in some cases our losses. Three things we hold to:
- Everyone recognizable in a photo has to agree before we publish it. Not just the person who took it — everyone in it. If you are not sure whether someone has agreed, send the photo anyway and tell us. We will hold it until that is settled, however long that takes.
- We blur the faces of children. Any minor in a published photo has their face blurred, unless a parent or guardian specifically tells us otherwise. This is our default, and you do not have to ask for it.
- Naming people is a separate permission. The answer is often different from permission to publish. We publish photos without names by default, and name someone only if they have said they want to be named.
We may not publish every photo we receive, and we will take anything down on request — no reason needed, no questions asked. Write to the same address.
What we are looking for
- The flood and the days after — July 2025.
- The rebuild — repairs, progress, what has changed.
- Workdays and gatherings — cleanups, the garden, meetings, the people who came to help.
- Remembrance — memorials and tributes for the neighbors we lost.
A note on privacy: photographs taken on a phone usually carry the location where they were taken hidden inside the file. We remove that information from every photo before it goes on this website, so publishing a picture of a house does not publish its address.
There is no deadline. Send them whenever you are ready.
