REBUILD.US

REBUILD.US — The National Disaster Survivors Association — is a national network built by and for people who have lived through disaster. Their work recognizes that survivors are not simply recipients of aid—they are leaders with firsthand knowledge of what their communities need.

Sandy Creek Alliance is a chapter of REBUILD.US. That gives us training, education, resources, and a national network of fellow disaster survivors and community organizers — and it means our neighbors' experience feeds into a national effort rather than stopping at the county line. REBUILD.US helps equip our community with the tools to advocate for meaningful civic and policy change, including training around government engagement and lobbying. They also provide grant support that helps sustain locally led recovery and organizing efforts.

For Sandy Creek, this partnership has helped turn our experience of disaster into a platform for advocacy—not only for our own community, but for disaster survivors across Texas and the country.

Rebuild Sandy Creek

Rebuild Sandy Creek is a local 501(c)(3) nonprofit — "For Sandy Creek, By Sandy Creek" — focused on rebuilding homes here in our community. Where REBUILD.US works at a national level, Rebuild Sandy Creek is entirely local, run by and for the people of Sandy Creek.

Travis County Recovery Alliance

The Travis County Recovery Alliance (TCRA) coordinates service delivery across the county, connecting survivors with a network of 17 partner organizations. TCRA helps make sure recovery resources reach the people who need them, across jurisdictions and organizations.

Friends of Round Mountain School

The historic Round Mountain School is more than a building. It is a gathering place with deep roots in the Sandy Creek community—and today, it continues to serve as a place where neighbors come together.

Friends of Round Mountain School generously provides Sandy Creek Alliance with a home for community meetings, events, forums, and organizing. From recovery conversations to community celebrations and civic engagement, the school gives us a physical place to gather, share information, make decisions, and strengthen the relationships that hold our community together.

We are grateful for their partnership and for their commitment to preserving a space where the Sandy Creek community can continue to come together.

Disaster Tech Lab

Disaster Tech Lab is a planned partner that would bring community broadband and wifi access to Sandy Creek during recovery and future emergencies. This partnership is not yet active—it is awaiting a grant decision. We will update this page when we know more.
